Words Have Power: By Karen Moss

Words Have Power: By Karen Moss

When I saw Uniquely Creative's Steampunk Graffiti range I knew I had to have it, in fact I had to have all of it :0)  Even before it had arrived from Janine I had my photos printed out in preparation.

This layout was inspired by the 'Words Have Power' rub-on and the words on our daughter's t-shirt "In a world where you can be anything ... BE KIND" something I think we all need to remind ourselves at times as I know, on occasion, I am not as kind as I could be.

Process video can be found HERE

I started by cutting 1/4" from the top and right of the Urban paper and mounted this onto a 1" frame which I had cut from a piece of 12" x 12" black card.  I used the remainder of the black card to mount my tag, cut from the Cyberpunk paper and my 5" square photo.

Also, from the Cyberpunk paper I cut the large butterfly and lightbulb. I created my butterfly/bulb embellishments by removing the wings from the butterfly's body, adding them beneath the lightbulb then adding the body to the top of the lightbulb.

I fussy cut the right of the Underground paper to give me a shaped edge, adding this to the right of my page with my photo 3" from the left and 3 1/2" from the bottom.

I added the 'Words Have Power' rub-on and large butterfly to the tag. I also punched a hole at the top of the tag and added some ribbon, this was placed on the right of my photo. I then added the 'rainbow' splashes, also from the rub-on sheet, to cover the two places where there were printed words on my layout.

Lightbulb butterflies were also placed at the top right of my photo and the bottom left of my page. I added a frame from the pack of Creative Cuts over my title to emphasise it a little bit.

I then pulled out all the soft coloured cogs from the pack of Creative Cuts and in doing so realised that I could make some faux enamel dots with the waste from the centre of these.  I used Glossy Accents for this, carefully covering each one with the liquid and once dry they did look like enamel dots.

To finish, I placed the cogs at the top left and bottom right of my page and added phrases from the Creative Cuts.  My faux enamel dots were scattered about the page with some black gems to add little pops of contrast.

I also added a pointing finger, from the Creative Cuts, to disguise a crease in our daughter's t-shirt.
