See the Sights - Landmark, Carrbridge

Janine has provided us with some fresh colours January’s Cocoa Vanilla – Daydream Collection.  This month’s beautiful pastel colours reminded me of my early mornings, watching the sky change whilst on the train to work and my evening sit down watching the day ending.  Sky, that was my inspiration - to look for photos of the sky! So, I was delighted with my photo find this month.  On our annual trip up north, Euan and I ventured up the Fire Tower at the adventure park in Carrbridge.  We must have spent over an hour up on this tower, and yes you felt you were up in the sky.  My son, running around this narrow platform looking out into the landscape, pretending to be a lookout - watching for a fire starting out in the forest!  Scrapbooking is such a super way to remind us of these special memories.

My double layout – using 2 pieces of Coconut Swirl 12x12” for my base. First, I cut 2 pieces of Garden Variety to 6x10”, then I cut 2 pieces of Sun Shower 5x8”, then I cut my sheet of Sweet Serenity in half to 2 pieces of 6x12”.

On top of my Coconut Swirl base, I used my stencil from the kit.  With a mix of distress ink, Tattered Rose and Fossilized Amber.  I randomly stenciled the four corners of the paper, using these two inks and a dauber.

I then placed centrally my 2 pieces of Garden Variety and my 2 pieces of Sun Shower.  I then put my 2 pieces of Sweet Serenity across the middle of these, placing the dappled pattern to the outer edges of the layout.

For my three photos I used the Yukon Gold Bazzill for my matting.  I cut 2 pieces of the paper 9 x4 1/8”.  I placed my photo’s cutting the one placed in the middle of the layout in half.  I then added the photo matt centrally on top of the Sweet Serenity paper.

For my embellishments, I decided to cut journaling tabs from the Happy Place paper, selecting the white, pink and blue shades.  I then cut out some rainbows and the Remember This title and the fun tab.   I placed the 3 journal tabs at the top right-hand side of the layout, finishing off with my red corded heart for the kit.  I added Remember This to the middle top of the Sun Shower paper and added a rainbow to each side of the title.

On the bottom left-hand corner I decided to tear and curl the paper, I then added some Sun Shower behind the cut and added my wee fun tab with a couple of fussy cut flowers.

As always, I used some Dusty Attic - for my title “See the Sights”, I painted with Metallique Royal Red acrylic paint, I added this to the top right-hand corner of the layout with a wee pair of metal binoculars from my stash.

For my cluster, I used icons from the DA “camping icons”, boots I coloured with felt pens, brown and black, the compass I only added some gold outline using some smooch – gold, the arrow sign I again used brown felt pen then outlined with my smooch- gold and brown for the post.  I placed these down in the bottom right-hand corner, firstly I added a small piece of cheesecloth, then I placed the DA and a button from the kit.

Finally, I painted the DA “old wooden fence #2” with the Royal Red paint and once dry I added some string lines of jute.   This I placed centrally under my middle photo.  A very simple and quick layout.  Enjoy!
