Remember – Mum

Remember – Mum

I always, as a rule, buy extra papers with my kits.  There is always one piece of paper that stands out for me that I always want to use more of.  I purchase extra cardstock too, never goes wrong having extra in your stash.  So, with my extra papers, I decided to do another single layout of Mum – these were 3 small Polaroids I found.  My mum did not like having her photo taken so these just melted my heart when I found them and of course needed to be scrapped.

I decided to stencil again using the texture paste.  It is amazing how far the texture paste will go, even with the size of the jar that came with the kit.  As long as you keep it airtight…. It will last a good long while.  This time I added some Opal Magic Rose Gold metallic paint.  This gave me a lovely pale rose colour.  Sadly, you cannot really see the metallic shine come through on the photo, but it is there on the layout.

Using a sheet of Coconut Swirl 12x12 and my Tim Holtz Stencil #32 Flourish I randomly stencilled around the paper.

Using my extra sheet of Wallflower paper, I decided to cut out some circles.  (Don’t laugh!  I cut these out by hand – no special tool required just a dinner plate).   I cut out a large circle 8.5 x 8.5 then using a lid from a jar – I cut out 2 small circles 2.5 x 2.5 and then 3 smaller circles 1x1 (used a punch for these).  I inked around all the circles using Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Milled Lavender.

I placed my cut-outs onto my layout, 8.5x8.5 first to the right of the page, then I randomly added my 2 smaller and 3 even smaller circles to the bottom left of the 8.5x8.5.  Once I was happy with the layout, I used 1/4“ Score-tape to stick all in place.

I used Dusk Bazzill to mat my 3 photographs, which I placed in a line down the right-hand side of my page. I rounded the corners on the photos and matting to keep my edges soft.    I then cut a strip 1x12 of Dusk, I used the lace from the kit and stuck this onto the Dusk to create a border down the left-hand side.  I used ribbon tape to stick down the cream lace.

For my Title I used Life Moments ‘Remember’ word title – I painted this using Art Alchemy Golden Moss paint.  I should add, when I paint my DA I always use a sponge.  It gives great even coverage and you don’t have to worry about brush strokes.  You can add extra layers of paint as it dries, and it helps create a lovely texture too.  I placed my title at the top left-hand side of my layout.

For my embellishments, I added some 49 and Market Wildflowers – Violet.  I placed these at the bottom right of the 8.5 circle above the small circles.  I also added some more Dusty Attic – Doodads #1 painted in Golden Moss. I placed the DA under the flowers to add some extra height.    I placed a couple of small flower clusters on the right-hand side of my pictures 1 and 3.

In my stash, I found some coloured pearl halves.  I put three of these on my ribbon - green, cream and pink.  Then I placed another three around my flower clusters.  I found a wee pale pink rose which I placed on my journal.

For my Journal I cut out another circle using Dusk Bazzill as the matting and a smaller circle using my journal between the top of my flower cluster and under my DA title.

I used 3D gloss gel to fix my DA and flowers to the layout.

All done.   Very simple and very pretty!
