I am so happy the days are starting to become lighter earlier and that the sun is setting later. Spring is in the air...
I am on the blog today sharing my first DT scrapbook layout using the March kits: Let Your Creativity Bloom.
For this page I've used elements from both the main kit as well as the add on kit.
I started off fussy cutting the beautiful page 07 from the add on kit.
I then started on my background, using the Bazzill Coconut Swirl cardstock from the main kit. I absolutely destroyed it.
I tried using a medium that I hadn't used before without giving it much thought or planning and it was a disaster.
Luckily I had some American Crafts solid white cardstock spare that I had received from The Mad Scrapper.
After putting in a bit more thought into my mixed media background I tried again.
I used the gorgeous Tim Holtz Floral layering stencil, the Finnabair Sparks acrylic paint Butterfly Spells, and distress oxides, which are all available from The Mad Scrapper.
I added a little modeling paste to both my Finnabair Sparks acrylic and the distress oxides to make them a slight bit thicker to prevent bleeding under the stencil.
I used the Distress Oxides Rustic Wilderness, Speckled Egg and Weathered Wood which are all available from The Mad Scrapper.
The Finnabair Sparks Acrylic paint has the most gorgeous shimmer to it, not sure the photo does it justice.
After my mixed media was dry I started putting my page together. I backed my photo with white tissue paper and then with sticky back foam, which was from my stash.
I used all the floral pieces I had fussy cut from the paper 07 in the add-on kit and took the hearts from the sticker sheet from the Main kit.
The title has come together using Alphas from my stash.
Although initially rather time-consuming, this page came together quite easily in the end.
I particularly like the simplicity of it.
Happy Scrapping xx
