Layout 1 for August: by Kerry Mcinally

Kerry here, with my first layout using the August 2024 Scrapaholix kit.

I began by backing my 4x6 photo in leftover white and charcoal grey cardstock.

Next I fussy cut a strip of the ‘Lucky Trinkets’ patterned paper and distressed the edges.

Next I used a Tim holtz stencil and some gold texture paste, from my own stash, to stencil a sunburst beneath where I planned to lay the ‘lucky trinkets’ piece.

At this point I decided to trim a small border from my white card stock to enable me to use the Yukon Cardstock to mount the entire layout onto.

Next I cut off the ‘beautiful things’ border strip from the paper of the same name and tore another strip from this paper using the mustard yellow side.  I layered these on top of each other and placed them above my sunburst.

Then I raised my photo onto foam pads and placed it above the middle of the layered paper pieces.  I used the ‘The story’ journalling card to the left of my photo and the ‘Little treasures’ card above it.  I used some tab pieces made from scraps of black card.  To the right of the photo I used a tag from the ephemera pieces provided, and two hearts.  I used embroidery thread, from my own stash, through the tag hole and then used the enamel dots to stick down the strands.

Finally I used a butterfly from the ephemera pieces, raising its wings onto foam, and a few fold splatters to finish the page.
