JAMES - My Dad
JAMES – My Dad
Using up the remainder of the paper in the Maja - Miles Apart February Kit, green, being my most favourite colour, I put together a simple single layout using an old photo I found of my Dad who passed away 3 years ago. I decided to scrap this photo as it is the only one we have of my Dad as a young lad. The original photo is very small, so I had to scan it onto my pc and enlarge it. Thankfully, I came away with a half decent copy which I was able to use.
Main
For the base I used Be Safe - Green Side 12x12"
For my photo matt I cut Bazzill Guacomole to 9¼ x 9¼”, Bazzill Bark to 9 x 9” and Be Safe – Floral side to 8 x 8”. All stuck down with score tape, I placed my photo matt ¾ of inch down from the top of my page centrally.
My photo size was 5 ¾” x 3 ¾” – matted with Guacomole 6 ¼ x 4 ¼” and Bark 6 x 4”. I then placed the photo centrally onto the photo matt using score tape.
I then cut a strip of Bark ¾“ x 12” and placed a piece of the floral cut of strip onto this. Using score tape, I placed this on my page, ½” up from the bottom.
Embellishments
Using Dusty Attic – deVine Frame Set, I cut out a quarter of a corner section. I painted (using a small paint brush) the leaves with Art Alchemy Acrylic paint -Dark Forest, the frame sides with Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint - Royal Red and I used my Pigma Micron Pen - Sepia to colour the vine stems. Once dry, I added more Dark Forest paint to the leaves, just to add a wee bit more texture. I then placed this on the left side corner of my photo matt. I used 3d Gloss Gel to stick this in place. From my stash I added 5 small keys (my Dad had a thing for keys – he had hundreds of them, why he kept them, sadly I will never know!) I wanted these to look like they are hanging from the vine. I placed them on my layout using 3d Gloss Gel, I used my Pigma Micron Pen to draw a line from the key to the vine.
On the strip at the bottom I added the lock from the Metal Patina Trinkets, again stuck down with 3d Gloss Gel. I then coloured in the lock hole dark using my Pigma Micron Pen.
Around the bottom of the photo I added a wee bunch of flowers from 49 and Market Maura's Vineyard - Rose, a piece of Cream Lace Ribbon – cut 2 ¾”, 2 pieces of DA Quoted Sentiments, important stuff & xoxo, a key selected from the Metal Patina Trinkets, a DA leaf and rose – salmon colour and a clock button. I stuck everything down with 3d Gloss gel apart from the lace which I used ribbon adhesive and the words ‘important stuff’ I used some foam dots to raise it up.
Title & Journaling
I cut a piece of Walnut Cream 3 ¼” x 2”, I inked this all around using Distressed Ink – Aged Mahogany. I wrote my journaling using my Pigma Micron Pen – Sepia. I matted this with Bark cut 3 ½” x 2 ¼” and Guacamole 3 ¾” x 2 ½”. I punched a single hole in the middle of the left hand side, edged the hole with my Pigma Micron Pen – Sepia. I stuck these together with score tape. I used a piece of cream ribbon from my stash and a brad. I laid this at the right hand side of my embellishments, using a foam dot to secure the outer side of the journaling card from moving.
For my Title I cut a strip of Walnut Cream ½” wide x 4 ½ in length. I then used Bark to matt this ¾” wide by 4 ¾” in length. I used my Aged Mahogany Distress Ink to ink all around the edges. I then added some green Alpha’s from my stash of the Colour Vibe Alpha Sticker Book. Once I placed my Dad’s name on the matt, I took my dauber and gently went over this with more Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. All put together and placed with score tape.
A nice wee layout to add to my collection in memory of my Dad. xxx
