This page took on a completely different look and idea from what I had initially planned. My initial idea was to add a mixed media background but once I had laid out the layout I liked it so much I didn't end up adding any mixed media.
You all know how much I love fussy cutting so when I saw this beautiful floral / rose paper from the Friendship kit called Together it was the first thing I did, I fussy cut all the roses and leaves.
I used the Blackbird cardstock from the kit as my background. I don't normally use black cardstock as a background but thought the florals would look really nice and that they would pop off the darker background.
I also cut up the cut apart sheet, which is the B side of the So Lucky pattern paper. The colours on this 'So Gorgeous' 3x4 card matched the florals and my photos so perfectly.
I first planned my layout before sticking anything down, moving the floral elements around until I was happy with their placement.
I then backed my photos with black cardstock and the 'So gorgeous' 3x4 card with white cardstock to create contrast.
I then placed my photos and the 3x4 card as the focal point of my page.
I purposely did not add any adhesive to the leaves of the florals to create dimension and to lift the page.
I also added a second title to my page using the foam words from the kit, and the foam leaves. I love the tone-on-tone effect from the black foam title and leaves on the black cardstock.
Besides the fussy cutting it really is a simple page, but I do love how striking it is, it pops off the black background.
