Hi Scrappy Friends, I'm sharing my 1st DT project using the Scrapaholix August Kits. The papers in this month's Viken Main and Add-on kits are so beautiful that I really struggled to decide which side of the pattern papers to use.
After looking through my photos I decided to use the B side of the Charming pattern paper from the Main Kit as my background paper. It is not often that I will use a pattern paper for my background as my go-to backgrounds are normally white cardstock. The Charming pattern paper was just perfect for my photos.
I started off backing my photos with the White Bazzill cardstock and did a second layer using the Bazzill Whirlpool cardstock from the Main kit.
I then lightly marked on my background where I wanted my photos and where I wanted my mixed media to be. I used the Vicki Boutin Iridescent Glaze and applied it through my Vicki Boutin stencil using a blending brush.
The VB Iridescent Glaze is so pretty, it gives off the prettiest shimmer. It is difficult to describe the colour as it appears to have a pearl shimmer but also looks silver in certain light. It's my first time using a VB glaze and I absolutely love it. I can't wait to try the other colours in the range.
Once the glaze was dry, it did dry very quickly as I applied it with a blending brush and not as a paste, I backed my photos with sticky back foam and stuck them in place onto my background.
I then selected the Viken rub-ons from the Main kit that I wanted to use, (the designs will vary per kit). I was a bit nervous at first to apply the rub-ons directly to my page as I have had rather bad experiences in the past with rub-ons but these were super easy to use and applied beautifully to my page.
After applying the rub-ons and looking at my page I was so pleased with how it looked I decided to keep it simple.
I hope you enjoyed reading how this page came together.
Happy Scrapping xx
