Hi there.
Well it’s April. In the last week of March we had Tshirt weather one day and we had snow just two days later. But there’s definitely a feeling of spring. And when I opened up my design team package to see what Aprils kit looked like, I got a lovely floral spring vibe from most of it.
All except this sheet…
This one just seemed to drag me back to my youth. I was born in the 60s and spent most of the 70s dressed in cheesecloth shirts, bohemian dresses and Laura Ashley pinafores.
I burned incense and played my guitar. And something about the colours of this paper made it impossible for me not to do a boho 70s style layout.
Sadly, I don’t have any photos of me under the age of 30 so I’ve had to rely, yet again, on a stock photo of some sort.
Luckily, Maja Design has the perfect 12x12 page with images to use and this particular photo was just perfect. It could easily have been me in my late teens (although I can tell, even though most of her face isn’t in it, I wasn’t as pretty as the young lady in the photo lol).
I’ve torn all around the edges of the 12x12 floral paper and then layered it onto the pink Bazzill card included in the kit.
I’ve also cut out a couple of elements from my Ciao Bella Jazz papers. The guitar and the LP record/disc.
I used 3D foam tape and started layering and attaching all my elements.
I’ve used some of the chipboard embellishments from the kit as well as the flat back gem type metal embellishments and the little rose buds.
Then I raided my flower drawer. I’ve used 49 and Market flowers as well as a couple of Green Tara to build up my 70s flower power vibe. Then to finish it off I added some splatters of rust paint and a few dabs of mermaid affect paste for mica sparkle.
It certainly evokes great memories of that decade from a very personal perspective.
I hope it carries the theme in your eyes too.
