Two Christmas Themed Exploding boxes by Liz Marsden

Two Christmas Themed Exploding boxes by Liz Marsden

Hi guys, I thought I'd show you two exploding boxes created the same way but with different papers and colours.

The first one is using the fabulous papers by Carta Bella from the Farmhouse Christmas collection, I've created this for my Daughter and hubby who doesn't really overly do fussy or girly.

I used the fantastic papers on the outside along with the sticker images for on the top. Underneath the sticker I used a Dusty Attic snowflake and one of the clear Rhinestones, then I added a couple more around and on the sticker.

Inside the box I created a scene, they have just moved home so this will be their first Christmas there. I shall show close up pictures now, all sections have some of the papers as the base with a doily effect from my stash over the top.

I got this fabulous Dusty Attic house which I painted with some Finnabair  Burlap Impasto paint, then when dry I went over with some of the Liquid Acrylic in Carmine. This created a little difference in the colour. The Scrapiniec tree has a little Finnabair Modelling paste on here and there and I used some more on the Roof top and on the base. I also added a hint of glitter on the tree.

The section at the back has one of the stickers onto which I added another of the adorable smaller stickers, then more of the D/A Rhinestones.

The front section has this fabulous sticker image of the mantle with stockings - my Daughter usually has these up so I couldn't resist using it, lol.

The left hand side section has this adorable wellies sticker combined with the sleigh - both of these I added the Finnabair Modelling paste on for the snow effect. Another D/A snowflake with some glitter over the top is used as well.

I love this text sticker which I've combined with the tree sticker, snowflake and Ivy, again along with some of the clear Rhinestones,

Now for the second exploding box, this is for my Granddaughter who loves, glitzy pink and everything girly!!

I used some more of the gorgeous Prima papers from the Sugar Cookie collection, I also used some of the fantastic glitter trim by Prima that matches the paper collection.

Again I used one of the fabulous D/A Snowflakes, this time painted with some white Gesso before the glitter but still with a D/A Rhinestone. The images were fussy cut out of the paper and raised on foam pads, I then simply added some of my pearl effect beads from my stash to match the colours.

This is the front section, with another fussy cut tree raised on with 3D pads, then more snowflakes done in the same way as the top. I also distressed the paper edges on this box with some scissors and a little vintage photo distress ink.

The back section has the same distressed edges on the paper, with a bit of fussy cutting off the paper with this text on; another snowflake and gems were used too.

I used some more adorable Dusty Attic chipboards for the side sections, painting them with a layer of white Gesso then I went over the centre one with some Imagine Ink embossing powder in Sea Mist. I used some fine Glitter again for the other two.

These adorable D/A  stockings are again painted first with white Gesso but I used the same Heat embossing powder on the two outer ones with the Glitter used for the centre.

The main focal section in the centre has a gorgeous Scrapiniec Christmas tree used with the same embossing powder over the top, with some of the Finnabair modelling paste on as the snow effect.
I then created a snowman out of two sizes of foam balls from my stash, these I covered with more of the modelling paste. When dry, I added a scarf and hat made out of the papers and used two of the 49 and Market wishing bubbles in Minty Breeze for the buttons.
I then added some more snow effect here and there to create the winter scene.

I hope these show you how different the boxes can look depending on how you decorate them.

These are great and very much an inspiration. I have always meant to try one and still not gotten around to it. I love them Liz. Especially the snowy candy pink one (despite me continually saying I do not like pink. I have taken a real liking to it in winter Christmas themes.).
