Dare to be different. A layout by Karen Moss.

Dare to be different. A layout by Karen Moss.

I knew I would be using this photo of our daughter, dressed as a punk for a fancy dress party, from 16 years ago, when I saw the Steampunk Graffiti range.  The biggest task was to find the photo as I am useless at filing my photos in any order.

Process video can be found here

Did you know that Uniquely Creative produce cut files for electronic cutting machines to use with each range? I have a silhouette so I purchased the one that accompanied Steampunk Graffiti and cut out lots of black lightbulbs and cogs.

I started this page by trimming 1/4" from all four sides of a piece of Steampunk Graffiti Alleyway and adding to white card. I then fussy cut the light bulbs from the bottom of a piece of Retro and added this to the bottom of my page.

I added bulbs from the Creative Cuts pack above the fussy cut bulbs and then slipped my photo underneath these.

Next, from black card, I used the cutting file to cut some light bulbs and cogs.  I backed the lightbulbs with Underground paper and stuck these to the top left and top right of my page.  I added some acrylic bulbs, from the Acrylic Embellishment pack, between the die-cut bulbs.

I cut some cogs, using the Metalworks die and Underground paper. They were then placed above the Creative Cuts bulbs on the left and below the die-cut bulbs on the right.  I also added some black die-cut cogs.

To finish I placed a frame from the Creative Cuts pack, at the top left of my photo with the die-cut 'Dare to be Different' and a phrase, also from the Creative Cuts pack.
