Hello creative friends! I recently had a colour palette idea in my head of blues and purples but I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do with it. I started to assemble some different bits and pieces together and just decided to see where it would take me!
Once I had all the different elements glued down, I covered everything in black gesso and then dry brushed white gesso over the top to pick out the details. I started to build the colour with liquid acrylic paints and then switched over to waxes to get a more solid and intense colour.
I used the waxes to highlight different areas of the elements and create a blended colour effect on the wings. I finished the project by splattering diluted white gesso over it.
These aren't the greatest photos as the shine from the waxes made it difficult to photograph! But it was interesting to start with just a colour palette in mind and see what I could come up with.
