I have to admit to having had a bit of a splurge recently on 49 & Market ephemera, frame diecuts and stacking bookplates etc
I kind of love them 💜
I suspect I won’t use it all in the end but it won’t stop me trying. I was showing my purchases to a craft friend and she said she liked them but wouldn’t know what to do with them. So I made this layout as an example of the kind of thing I wanted them for.
It’s pretty 49 & Market heavy with just a few other touches like a Finnabair stencil and icing paste. As well as an old book page torn up and a little piece of lace (also cut up).
I’ve tried to give the project a bit of dimension as I have some 12x12 shadow box frames and I’d like to use one for this. This means it doesn’t have to be too flat to fit in an album.
Of COURSE it could also be glued onto a canvas or a sturdy card backing to turn it into a wall decoration too.
I started by adding the icing paste through my Finnabair stencil then everything else was mostly just lots of stacking and layering. I finished it with some splashes of paint I’d mixed for a sort of sepia brownish colour.
Along with 49 & Market flowers, it has a very romantic, floral, feminine look while still fulfilling my desire for a vintage vibe.
Although I now wish I’d stacked more layers behind my little book.
Next time …
