Family

I loved the colours of this month’s kit from Cocoa Vanilla Studio’s Daydream range. Although I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them but the journaling sheet made up my mind for me. My layout is about Family as I have only managed to see them once since Christmas 2019 but hopefully, I will get to see them again soon… fingers crossed.

I used American Crafts Storm cardstock for my base layer and created templates on my computer in Silhouette Studio and cut these out on my Cameo from Coastal and Coconut Swirl cardstock and added my photos to the back along with journaling cards and pieces cut from the reverse side of Sweet Serenity and Garden Variety. I then matted these on two mats measuring 8½” x 11¾” and 11¾ x 11¾ cut from the reverse side of Sun Shower. I cut two borders from the reverse side of Happy Place and added these to the edges of the patterned mats so that half of them were positioned under the photo mats. I created a hidden journaling pocket under the right-hand photo mat before sticking to the Sun Shower piece. All the edges of the cardstock and papers were inked with Stormy Sky Distress Ink.

My title I created in Silhouette Studio and positioned portions of a photograph in each letter, printed it and then cut it out on my Cameo. The mats were made from Coconut Swirl and Yukon Gold.

The tree I cut three times and using the stencil in the kit I added crackle texture paste to just the branches. I then used Gabrielle Pollacco’s Hard Texture stencil on just one of the trees for the trunk. Once these were dry I inked the trees all over with Ground Espresso Distress Ink. Next, I layered the trees up but only stuck the trunks together as I wanted movement in the branches. I finished off the trees by adding flower blossoms cut from Happy Place and Yukon Gold and attached behind the title. I added the button embellishment to the left-hand layout and the fabric heart to the right-hand.

The layout has not actually come out as I had envisaged it in my head, but I am pleased with it anyway. Need to work more on my software skills!

What a fabulous layout Jackie, I love how you’ve used your silhouette to cut the photos and mat them. The colour scheme is perfect… a lovely set of family memories to treasure
