Journal Page by VICKI PUNTON
Hey Everyone,
I have another layout using the Daydream kit from Cocoa Vanilla Studio. This time it's a journal page about my little boy starting school. I like to keep these pages pretty simple. It means that even if I don't have a lot of time I still manage to document the stories. When I look back through my journal I'm not going to worry about the pages being simple but will enjoy the memories!
I cut down the Sun Shower 12x12 paper to make my pages. This is my book ring journal so I was able to make the pages any size. I choose to make them 19cm x 11cm. I kept one yellow side up and flipped the other over to the white with rainbow drops. It felt a bit busy so I cut down the Garden Variety paper and glued it down with the blue/grey side up.
On the opposide to the blue there are the most amazing florals. They just beg to be fussy cut. I cut out a few a left them to the side to add onto the page later. The Happy Place cut apart sheet had the sweetest rainbow so I cut around that too and added it to the side of the right page. I love seeing the blue paper peeping through from behind.
I added a strip of the rainbow drops paper behind my photo to break up the yellow and glued my photo down just off centre so I had space at the bottom to add that sweet strip with hearts on. Foam adhesive was perfect to add those little flower clusters and give them a bit of dimension. I like that they're hanging off the edge of the pages and not taking over too much too. Once I'd added my title I found that the alphas were a bit too white so I went around and added some faux stitching with a light yellow pen.
I finished off adding some enamel dots and a few little details with a grey pen. Usually I'd have used a black but the grey works much better with the pastel colours in the papers. These papers really make it easy to create some lovely pages and save the stories!
