Hello again, here is another album I have made as guest designer for The Mad Scrapper, using the pre-made Graphic 45 Staples Trifold Waterfall Folio Album. and featuring The Greatest Show design papers from Ciao Bella.
A pre-made album is a great starting point if you are new to album making. The Mad Scrapper has several different blank albums and folios from both Graphic 45 and 49 and Market, they are great fun to fill, and easy to alter and add to.
When I first started making albums, years ago, I used to add lots of flowers and layers of fussy cut paper, dangly bits and even bits of jewellery to the cover, so they were very dimensional. It looked amazing, and if I was making an album to give away I might use flowers etc still, but those early albums took up a lot of shelf space, and were easily damaged as storage became a problem. So now I like to keep things simple, fussycutting (not my best skill!) some of the ticket images and a banner, and I raised a circular badge design on some grey board to give a little dimension. I have inked the edges of everything to give a more vintage look. There are magnets built in to the cover that make a strong closure.
I altered the shape of the front cover inside pocket using some vanilla cardstock, to hold the Ringmaster cut apart card which was far too fabulous to cut into. Next is a large pocket page to which I added an insert using the same vanilla cardstock.
Inside the album there is plenty of ‘spare’ room as it has nice wide gussets, so I added not only an extra single page (the horses) but also a trifold page with pocket (equestrian lady opening to clowns) so I could showcase more of the images in a wide spread. I added magnets to these so they close nicely.
Tip: I have a terrible habit of forgetting to add magnets before sticking down the design papers, a definitive ‘Doh!’ moment and hard to rectify without ripping the now stuck down paper, so now when I am planning and building pages into an album I put a big pencilled ‘x’ where magnets need to be. So hopefully I see that and I don’t forget when it comes to sticking down. Doesn’t always work though…
The album itself is a good size (7.5x7.5 inches) so I could fit the images in without losing much of the focus points. This size album would also be perfect for 8x8 inch paper pads.
I love the images in this set of papers, so much so that I just couldn’t make myself cover up any of them with photo mats. However, this album has 2 waterfalls for 4x6 photos, one landscape and one in portrait orientation so there’s still plenty of space for your pictures.
I hope you enjoyed my album, and thanks for looking.
