Hi Guys,
Today I'm sharing a 12x12 layout using some bits from the Cocoa Vanilla Daydream kit! The kids are back at school, the weather's changing and getting a bit colder and I can almost see Autumn just around the corner. This collection just screams Autumn to me with all the yellow and slightly muted colours. I took a photo of the kids walking up to school on their first day that I wanted to document on a larger layout. I did edit the photo before printing to dull the colours down a bit to fit better with the kit.
I've started off with some plain 12x12 white cardstock. I prefer a plain background and then adding the patterned papers to it rather than the busier backgrounds. I have a cloud shaped stencil that I used with some blue ink to add some subtle cloud shapes to the background. I think they might be so subtle you can't actually see them in the photos! I knew that I wanted to create two little birds out of the papers. I drew really simple bird shapes and cut them out. Making sure each one had a bit of each of the papers. I used my glue stick and popped all the bits down on some thin white card before cutting around them leaving a bit of a border. I had initially planned to stitch around them but decided just to add some faux stitching with a pen instead. I chose colours similar to the colour of the papers so it wasn't too distracting.
After I'd laid them on the page trying to work out where to lay everything they looked a bit lost. I quickly cut the two large clouds and used some white embroidery thread to stitch around the edge. Just to add an extra bit of texture. I roughly laid out where I wanted everything to be and started sticking it down. I love the floral paper and it was perfect for fussy cutting those big groups of flowers. I added a little cluster at the top left of the page to balance out the bottom where my photo was - the cut apart sheet from the collection was perfect for adding little extra bits like this.
I finished off adding a few splatters of Stormy Sky Distress Stain to the background, a few enamel dots and the sweet 'Oh My Stars' flair button! I love how the page turned out.. It was so quick to put together and another memory ready to be kept forever! I'll leave a list of bits I used down below with links directly too them!
Thanks for Reading!
Vicki
