Autumn Glow: Decorated Box by Louise Crosbie

Autumn Glow: Decorated Box by Louise Crosbie

I'm sharing this decorated box with you as I put the heating on for the first time in months. There are hints of Autumn in the air. I love Autumn. I would just prefer it if we got some sunshine in the summer first. But sadly that’s rare in central Scotland.
The box is one of those large wooden ones you can buy in The Works Store. We actually have a few in our craft class cupboard waiting on the appropriate class. (Maybe this is it?).

I used the popular Finnabair technique and products using black gesso and metallique waxes first of all but then I added some paints, glitter and, my favourite, rust paste.

I started with texture through a stencil before adding my embellishments. I have a process video for this so I’ll add a link next to the supply list at the bottom of the page.

I just bought some plastic pumpkins yesterday so I think I’ll be using these colours of waxes on them soon. I love the Firebird.

If you’ve seen, or decide to watch, the video, you’ll notice there are several stages where you could easily stop and your box would still be lovely. It would even look lovely if it was just all one colour of wax. You can make it as simple as you like.
Thanks for reading.
